Simply Recycled

This is my submission for Habitat for Humanity of Baton Rouge's Recycled Art Auction. The auction takes place on November 9, so if you live in the Baton Rouge area, be sure to go bid on some fabulous pieces of art. Not only are you benefiting Habitat for Humanity with your contributions, but you are also benefiting the environment with the auction's focus on recycled pieces.

My submission consists of 11 hand-painted herbs on a 2 ft. by 2 ft. birch wood panel. The panel is covered in fabric from a former bedding set. I repurposed a collection of unused picture frames. 6 of the herbs are painted directly on the frame's glass. 5 of the frames were missing or had broken glass. In these frames, I reused canvas from an unused piece of art. I repainted and/or refinished many of the frames to create a coordinated piece of art that will soon hang in the kitchen of some lucky (and charitable) bidder!
